Those pending "Thank yous'"
Most of the times in our life we are so absorbed with our
everyday challenges, countdowns and deadlines we often overlook things that we
should be grateful about. Right here. Right now.
The uncertainty and precariousness of life is bewildering
and overwhelming.
We often come across teachers and writers who emphasize not
only on the beauty of but also the need of being grateful towards the people
and the situations that make our lives worth living.
It may be our
parents, spouse, friends who love us and support us unconditionally or God for
everything we have and also for this day when we can think of being grateful
towards anything.
But there is more to the “Thankyou” list of life than this.
There are a lot of people who touch our lives in ways that go completely
unnoticed. Their effect may be direct or indirect. It may seem insignificant
too. Nonetheless, it definitely deserves
to be mentioned.
Here is my small personal ‘Thank-you’ list for people who
touched my life while I was too much engrossed with my own self to notice.
“That day. I thanked my friend for her joy bearing letter I
received when I was in a bad mood. Now I
want to thank my postman for delivering it on time.
I thanked my parents for support they gave me and for how
they can never ever go wrong with me. Now I want to thank my grandparents for
raising their kids so well.
I thanked my brother
for the beautiful birthday song he played on the guitar for me. Now I want to
thank his guitar teacher for teaching him one.
I want to thank those people who stopped by to see and help
me if I am hurt that day when I fell off my bike.
I want to thank that stranger who respectfully told me what
time it was even when he noticed that I myself am wearing a watch which I
forgot about.
I want to thank every
bus driver or rickshaw driver or train driver for doing their duties well and
ensuring I safely reach my destination. It is because of them I am still alive.
I want to thank those writers who wrote and are still writing
such beautiful and inspiring books that question and shape my beliefs and push
me to think. They have truly helped me through my confused and lonely days
I want to thank that friend who once corrected me that
“proudy” is not a word proud is the word. Saved me from a lot of embarrassment
in future.
I want to thank the song writers and lyricists for writing
such beautiful songs that can bring a suicidal person back to life.
I want to dearly thank that pizza boy for delivering pizza on
time when I was dying of hunger the day I was too tired to cook and was alone
at home.
I want to thank the makers of ‘Maggi’ for inventing a 2min
solution for so many dire cases of hunger.
I thanked the restaurant manager the day when we were so
late they were almost closing but as we had nowhere else to go he decided to
wait. Now I want to thank the cooks we didn’t even see who prepared the food
for us in its best taste at such a late hour.
I want to thank the people who at the signals stop
behind the stop line on the zebra crossing so others can cross safely and those
who quickly try to make a way for ambulances to pass.
I want to thank the clouds for the heavy rains that got my class cancelled that day when I didn’t want to go.
Now that I see the
cartoons that kids today feed on I sincerely want to thank the people who
created the cartoons that I watched when I was young.
With a lot more who deserve to be a part of this list I feel pretty blessed because everyday my life is touched by so many of them in a positive manner. And sometimes I fail to pay attention.
We often complain about how people are not sincere towards
their work or sometimes question the basic goodness in people because of
something that they did that has affected us or our lives in a way we didn't want it to. But what we forget is that still there are number of people whose
perseverance and goodness is making our lives so much easier and better.
Thank you for reading 'Dear Reader'.
